What We Can Learn From BP

Unless you have been living under a rock, you are aware that we are going on day 58 of BP’s (British Petroleum) catastrophic oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.  With every failed attempt to cap this oozing mess along with the somewhat sincere comments made by BP’s CEO Tony Hayward in countless media appearances, the company sinks itselfeven deeper. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea deeper!

What is Your Content Strategy?

As you implement marketing, PR and social media programs to build brand awareness, we believe every company should take a holistic view of their content strategy.  What is meant by this?  Basically, all pieces of content created by your company – press releases, case studies, blog posts, video, e-books, newsletters, white papers, email signature files, etc. – must be integrated and aim to reinforce your value proposition.  Beyond text, content should incorporate audio, video, and photos – as these can help clearly convey the problem your product or service addresses.

Burgers, Nutella Shakes and Social Media

A few weeks ago, I came across Lunchbox Laboratory on Flickr and instantly became a fan, even though it is located thousands of miles away from where I live in New Jersey. One look at the many types of burgers and it’s hard not to have a craving for one of these colossal creations (unless, of course, you are not a carnivore – not that there is anything wrong with that).

Tip of the (PR) Spear

I recently reconnected with a former client that we supported 10 years ago.  He is with a new company now and considering our services to support various public relations initiatives.  After we spoke and scoped his needs, I presented a proposal that included social media, video and the creation of a blog – among other tools and techniques.

Springboard Minute (Video): Beyond the Press Release

Press releases are an excellent (and important) tool to communicate company news, product developments, new services, partnerships and other events.

And while they can be integrated with search engine optimization techniques to improve Internet visibility, the press release should not be the only tool you use to convey your message.

Shopping for Funding Presented at NJConnect Meetup in Princeton

NJConnect held its fourth meetup last night in Princeton, NJ at the historic Nassau Inn.  The topic, “Approaching Investors to Fund Your Company,” was presented by guest speaker Joe Allegra, General Partner at Edison Venture Fund. Allegra provided compelling insight on the different aspects of angel and venture capital (VC) funding to an audience comprising of entrepreneurs and early-stage start-ups.  He also shared interesting perspectives on how to prepare for the funding process, and more importantly, what not to do.
