Access Denied!

Smart phones, email, text messages, social networks—we are constantly connected through a number of different tools. What would you do if you were told you were cut off? Cold turkey…access denied!

That is what President-elect Barack Obama is facing come January according to Jeff Zeleny in his article this past Saturday in NYT, Say Goodbye to BlackBerry? If Obama Has to, Yes He Can.

A self-proclaimed BlackBerry addict, Obama would have to give up the device due to White House security concerns. Smart phone hacking is a very real threat—who doesn’t remember Paris Hilton’s sidekick getting hacked into back in 2005. While the only information made public was her address book and some “photos”—a hacking of Obama’s BlackBerry could be dangerous.

While I certainly understand the security factors, it still makes me wonder if I could do it, go cold turkey that is.

I nearly lost my mind without BlackBerry service during a week long trip in Paris last year and that was a vacation. Being “connected” is something I am very used to and cannot easily wane from. Perhaps the highest ranking position in the land would be worth it…
