Social media, video and blogs are among the top tools to promote your business and ideas. If you are not using them you are definitely missing out on new mediums and platforms to reach your audience. Technology aside, there is nothing more “social” and “real-time” then actually meeting people in person, at conferences, meetups and events.
Our client Apstrata is
no stranger to this concept. The provider of real-time Web technology worked with
the team here at Springboard
to create an event plan which is part of their overall marketing communications
strategy. Apstrata targets application developers and the team here prepared a
lineup of events for them to regularly participate in.
This week Apstrata presented at Web 2.0 Expo at the Launch Pad event. They were one of five companies (selected from a pool of 70) to showcase their technology. Events such as this are critical to meeting people in person. Call it the original approach to “social” networking – actually shaking hands and connecting with people in “real-time.”
Apstrata has also participated in many events this year (Cloud Camp, the New York Tech meetup, and the New York Video 2.0 meetup). They have also presented at others such as the NYC Cloud Computing meetup and CloudSlam, a virtual conference. Several others are in the pipeline too.
While technology allows us to connect with people from the remote corners of the earth, never underestimate the power of real, face-to-face conversations. And as always, if you need help getting started and creating an event plan we are here to help.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Agreed. It's not what you know, but who. Most jobs and new clients are found through real-world contacts. Attend networking events or create your own.
