For many businesses, the summer months are usually the slowest time of year.  Between vacation schedules and the heat, those dog days of summer can have many yearning for the bustle September usually brings.  Regardless of your industry, June, July and August are actually an ideal time to fuel your marketing and PR engine.

While there may not be as many trade shows or industry events to attend – summer is an ideal time to reflect on the first half of the year and refine your key messages while continuing to elevate your brand.  Afterall, when was the last time your entire industry went on holiday for a quarter?  People do still work during the summer; their schedules might be light, but you still have an opportunity to engage and connect.

While you sip your iced coffee and take in the sun, consider these tips to feed your PR and marketing engine:

•    Audit your social media footprint and create a content strategy that integrates your online and offline brand
•    Attend meet-ups and other industry related networking events
•    Shoot a video.  Not only does video help deliver a better experience, but it also improves your ranking on Google, Yahoo and Bing
•    Create content!  A blog is a great way to tell stories and educate customers and prospects about your product, service expertise
•    Plan an off-site brainstorm session.  A day at the beach or a picnic can provide the perfect environment for brainstorming

Rather than limiting PR and marketing initiatives during the summer months, companies should focus on ramping up activity.  Developing new and innovative ways to deliver your message will help maintain the existing momentum you have built during the first six months of the year.  So, as we begin the first day of summer today, keep these tips in mind and make it successful!
