Earlier this month at OnMedia NYC, I had the opportunity to catch up with Hussein Fazal, CEO of AdParlor, a social network advertising platform based in Toronto. Hussein and I first met at the Social Ad Summit in New York back in September of 2008.  We have since collaborated on various public relations and social media projects.

Building on the pervasive use of social media, AdParlor has expanded its product offerings, enabling publishers and advertisers to monetize virtual currency through games and other interactive experiences. Hussein gives us a glimpse of how AdParlor is enabling the monetization of virtual currency in this video.

Almost a year old (launched March 2008), AdParlor is experiencing significant growth. Its advertising platform reaches audiences across the top social networks including Facebook, MySpace, Bebo, Hi5, Orkut and Friendster and currently serves 20 million ads each day.  According to Hussein, brands are increasingly becoming more comfortable with social media advertising and are beginning to see value in this emerging medium that encompasses hundreds of millions of people.

We look forward to continuing our work with AdParlor as the company builds out its product and service offerings.  Based on our conversations during OnMedia NYC, you can expect several announcements over the next few months.

Update: as of February 21th, AdParlor is now serving 30 million ads daily.
