As part of our on-going pro bono initiatives, we recently put our social media expertise to work for a friend and his family. Utilizing YouTube and Twitter, we helped create awareness for a new television reality series on TLC starring the Hayes family who live in New Jersey. What is so special about the Hayes family? They are a growing family of 12 that includes Eric and Betty and their two sets of twins and sextuplets. Yes…10 kids!

One week prior to the show's national premiere on TLC, Springboard uploaded the trailer to YouTube which quickly gained attention by the popular video sharing community. We also tweeted about the trailer and the show’s premiere on Twitter. As a result, thousands of people tuned in to YouTube and even more watched the pilot which aired on November 17th. To date, the YouTube video currently has more than 18,000 unique views, and over 60 messages were posted by fans.

Less than a week after the show debuted, the Hayes family received a call from TLC producers who are interested in filming additional episodes. Aside from the fact that the Hayes family provides some very interesting television (check them out), social media played an instrumental role in spreading the word and getting people to tune in. This is the power of social media.
